Conservative Christians Not Laughing at First Lady's Comedy Act

WASHINGTON, DC-The First Lady may have stolen the show with her
surprise comedy routine at the 91st White House Correspondents'
Association Dinner, but not everyone appreciated her jokes and
one-liners poking fun at President Bush. At least one organization of
conservative Christians quickly lashed out at Mrs. Bush's performance,
warning that her remarks at the President's expense were a public
refutation of the Biblical command that wives should respect their
husbands.

Pdf_1_1According to an official statement released over the weekend by
the Coalition for Traditional Values, an organization that seeks a more
flexible relationship between church and state, Mrs. Bush's jokes at
her husband's expense amounted to a public emasculation of the
President. Pastor Roy DeLong, the statement's author and chair of the
group, warns that the First Lady's performance comes at a time when the
Mr. Bush's "manliness is already under attack."

Laura: Meet Ephesians
Faith_wh_5"As a believer, President Bush is no doubt familiar with the
passage from Ephesians that says 'Wives, submit yourselves unto your

Mrs. Bush interrupted a speech being given by her husband at the annual
dinner, remarking that "I have a few things I want to say for a
change." She then proceeded to mock his performance, both public ("if
you really want to end tyranny in the world, you're going to have to
stay up later") and private, noting that by nine o'clock, Mr. Bush,
whom she referred to as "Mr. Excitement," is typically sound asleep.

"One of the Proverbs says that 'a virtuous woman is a crown to her
husband, but she that maketh him ashamed is as rottenness in his
bones," notes Mr. DeLong. "I bet President Bush is feeling pretty
rotten today."

Manliness in question
The rebuke to the First Lady's stand-up act comes on the heels of
mounting concern about the President's image. Last week, Mr. Bush was
seen holding hands with Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. Then the
President raised eyebrows anew when he asked a crowd of supporters in
Galveston, TX if they celebrated Splash Day, an annual gay pride event
in that state, best known for attracting tens of thousands of buff men,
wearing little more than suntan oil.

Even some members of Mr. Bush's famously loyal party looked askance at
his recommendation during a speech on the nation's energy needs last
week, when he encouraged Americans to consider driving hybrid vehicles,
widely believed to be 'gay' cars.

Depraved housewives?
While the Coalition for Traditional Values was the first conservative
advocacy group to jump on the First Lady's comments, more criticism is
expected. In her remarks, Mrs. Bush likened herself to a desperate
housewife, a reference to the hit show on ABC, noting that she watches
the show with Lynne Cheney, wife of the Vice President.

"Desperate Housewives" has come under heavy fire from pro-family
groups, including the American Decency Association, which has called
for a boycott of ABC for airing the "degraded" show. Last fall, Mrs.
Cheney asked the federal government to step in to protect the nation's
children from the "Desperate Housewives."

I am married to the president of the United States and here's our
typical evening. Nine o'clock. Mister excitement here is sound asleep.
And I'm watching desperate housewives. With Lynn Cheney. Ladies and
gentlemen, I am a desperate housewife. I mean, if those women on that
show think they're desperate, they ought to be with George. One night,
after George went to bed, Lynn Cheney, Condi Rice, Karen Hughues and I
went to Chippendale's. I wouldn't even mention it, except Ruth Ginsburg
and Sandra Day O'Connor saw us there. I won' tell you what happened, but
Lynn's Secret Service codename is now "dollar bill".

But George and I are complete opposites. I'm quiet, he's talkative. I'm
introverted, he's extraverted. I can pronounce "nuclear". The amazing
thing however is that George and I were just meant to be. I was a
librarian who spent twelve hours a day in the library. Yet somehow I met
George. We met and married and I became one of the regulars up at
Kennebunkport. All the Bushes love Kennebunkport. Which is like Crawford
but without the nightlife. People ask me what it's like to be up there
with the whole Bush clan. Let me put it this way: first prize: three day
vacation with the Bush family. Second price: ten days.

Speaking of prizes brings me to my mother-in-law. So many mothers today
are just not involved in their children's lives. Not a problem with
Barbara Bush. People often wonder what my mother-in-law is really like.
People think she's a sweet, grandmotherly Aunt Bee type. She's actually
more like ... hmmm ... Don Corleone. Cedric, am I doing alright?

I saw my in-laws down at the ranch over Easter. We like it down there.
George didn't know much about ranches when we bought the place. Andover
and Yale don't have a real strong ranching program. But I'm proud of
George. He has learned a lot about ranching, since that first year when
he tried to milk the horse. What's worse it was a male horse

The problem is the left has gone so far left that
from their perspective he is right wing.
What is so far left about NOT torturing kids?

What is so far left about NOT using banned weapons in war?

What is so far left about NOT attacking disarmed countries that don't
attack you?

The RIGHT has drifted to fascism. Ask the rest of the world.

I will tell you how far left we have gone. By today's standards FDR
would be considered right wing. As would JFK. The country slowing
moved left until the late 1960's. Then it accelerated rapidly through
the 1970's. Because of this rapid leftward lean the a backlash occurred
starting with the election of Ronald Reagan. Since Clinton was elected
the left has been successful at characterizing the core principles of
our country as right wing. Plus the internet has brought out all the
left wing kooks. Now movement to the center is now considered right wing.

Don't get me wrong. There are right wing nuts out there. And they have
little support. The KKK had significant support in the 1920's even in
northern states like Indiana. There are small pockets of groups like
the KKK and others now. And I am talking numbers less than 1000.

I hardly believe that there is any support from our current
administration for any of the items listed below. Iraq was hardly an
innocent country under Saddam Hussein, no 'right-wingers' are for
torturing kids or using banned weapons in war. Fascism is defined as a
dictatorship. Our current Congress and the head of our executive branch
was elected. The cabinet is appointed by the president and consented to
by Congress just like it was under George Washington and all presidents
since then.

Calling the right 'fascist' is an example of a left wing kook. As is
making absurd statements as "Bush crime family lost/embezzled $3
trillion from Pentagon".

And the rest of the world has indeed moved way left. So I guess from
their perspective we are right wing. But that is their problem.

The "core principles" of the US have nothing to do with a big government
intruding into people's lives, putting people in prison without trial

Yes, you are correct that a backlash occurred, but the problem with it
is that it also is leaving ordinary working people and americans
behind when it comes to the things that really count, like wages,
working conditions, clean air, clean water, etc.. just so they can
vote for things that do NOT matter in the big picture like gays
marrying.
People are voting for conservatives because they hate gays and
hollywood, but the people they are voting into office are all about
helping the most wealthy people and the largest corporations.
They consistently vote in ways that hurt every working person.
And that is what America is, working people, middle class.
We are nothing but a third world nation the more we move away from
that into two classes and a shit ton of monopolies.
Laze Faire and the CEO as celebrity are a problem.

No, fascism is not only defined by that.
It's also heavily defined by a system of government that is in bed
with large companies.
And that is happening today.
It also is defined by blind "nationalism" which could be seen as
simply as rivers of SUV's with flags, but also from the Prez: "you're
either with us or against us."

I think that is nonsense. You can't judge yourself. You need to have
independent outsiders look at you. From that perspective, you have
gone to the right.

How can you tell?

1. look at the wealth gap.

A short while ago congress passed a bankruptcy law which comes down
hard on people who end up in debt because of medical expenses or job
losses. Within days United Airlines was allowed to shove off BILLIONS
of dollars of pension debt onto the federal government in order to get
out of bankruptcy and benefot the stockholders.

Rich stockholders win. Workers see their promised pensions shrink and
ordinary people get screwed in bankruptcy court.

People who think that Republicans care about them are morons.

The First Ladies' performance obviously has achieved it's intended

WHAT "manliness???" LOL!!!!!

[ ... ]
Mrs. Bush interrupted a speech being given by her husband at
the annual dinner, remarking that "I have a few things I want to say
for a change." She then proceeded to mock his performance, both
public ("if you really want to end tyranny in the world, you're going to
have to stay up later") and private, noting that by nine o'clock, Mr. Bush,
whom she referred to as "Mr. Excitement," is typically sound asleep.
"One of the Proverbs says that 'a virtuous woman is a crown to her
husband, but she that maketh him ashamed is as rottenness in his
bones," notes Mr. DeLong. "I bet President Bush is feeling pretty
rotten today."
Naw. To feel rotten in such a circumstance, he'd first have had to
have a working brain. Something that he clearly has NEVER had.
Bush's famously loyal party looked askance
at his recommendation during a speech on the nation's energy needs last
week, when he encouraged Americans to consider driving hybrid vehicles,
widely believed to be 'gay' cars.
LOL!!!
"Depraved" housewives?
While the Coalition for [Destroying Personal Liberties] was the first
[RRR Cult] group to jump on the First Lady's comments, more
criticism is expected.
No surprise there. But at least that'll give us all more to laugh
at, and it will help to further expose the RRR as a collection of
ignorant and hateful dolts. Also a most welcome thing to see.
In her remarks, Mrs. Bush likened herself to a desperate
housewife, a reference to the hit show on ABC, noting that she
watches the show with Lynne Cheney, wife of the Vice President.
"Desperate Housewives" has come under heavy fire from [anti-
liberty] groups, including the American Decency Association,
...a.k.a., to sensible people, as "The American Hatefulness Assn." ...
...which has called for a boycott of ABC for airing the "degraded"
show.
ROTFL!!!! **That'll** boost it ratings!!
Last fall, Mrs. Cheney asked the federal government to step in
to protect the nation's children from the "Desperate Housewives."
Do you think the First Lady's comedy act was offensive to
Judeo-Christian values?
Nah! Not in the least. Only to the PHONY "values" of mindless-
ness and hate espoused by the RRR cult.

Laura Bush just did America a big FAVOR!

[RRR Cultists] Not Laughing at First Lady's Comedy Act
Oh, "WAAAAAAaaaahhhhhhhh!"

ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First Lady Laura Bush may have stolen the show with her
surprise comedy routine at this weekend's White House Correspon-
dents' Association Dinner, but her jokes and one-liners have made
her no new friends among [mindless RRR cult bigots].
GOOD for her!!!
In an official statement, one 'pro-family' ...
(TRANSLATION: "Anti-personal-liberties"...)
... group warned that Mrs. Bush's jokes at the President's expense
were in violation of the Biblical command that wives respect their
husbands.
ROTFLMAO!!!! As though her moronic, RRR-kowtowing husband
deserved ANY respect. From ANYone!
Some shocked by Mrs. Bush's reference to herself as a "desperate
housewife"
Further proving the abject **stupidity** of RRR cultists.

WASHINGTON, DC-The First Lady may have stolen the show with
her surprise comedy routine at the 91st White House Correspondents'
Association Dinner, but not everyone appreciated her jokes and
one-liners poking fun at President Bush. At least one organization of
{RRR Cult losers] quickly lashed out at Mrs. Bush's performance,
warning that her remarks at the President's expense were a public
refutation of the Biblical command that wives should respect their
husbands.
Just the sort of idiocy we've come to expect from people ignorant
and hateful enough to *be* RRR cultists.
According to an official statement released over the weekend by
the Coalition for Traditional Values,
(TRANSLATION: "Coalition for Returning America to the Dark Ages")
...an organization that [has no respect for the vitally-important
separation of ] church and state, Mrs. Bush's jokes at her husband's
expense amounted to a public emasculation of the President.
Good for her! Of course, he's always BEEN emasculated.
Pastor Roy DeLong, the statement's author and chair of the
group, warns that the First Lady's performance comes at a time
when the Mr. Bush's "manliness is already under attack."

Naw. To feel rotten in such a circumstance, he'd first have had to
have had a working brain. Something that he clearly has NEVER had.
